Military as a Post-secondary Pathway

The military is another option after high school. Each branch of the military typically visits the lunchroom once a month to once a trimester. They are Simley's direct contact and are available to provide information, answer questions, and support students through the process of enlistment.

If a student is interested in the military they are highly encouraged to learn about every branch, speak to their families, and understand all of their requirements and benefits before making a final decision.

Every branch of the military requires students to take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) exam. Simley offers the ASVAB to students in October and April; however, students can also take it directly with a recruiter at an enlistment center.

Another route into the military is to complete leadership training while in college and then enter as an officer. This program is called Reserve Officer Training Corps, or ROTC. There are many additional benefits of ROTC. Check out this awesome resource for more information:  https://universityhq.org/resources/college-planning-guide/rotc-programs/
