This April, Inver Grove Heights Schools held its third ISD 199 Bridging Concert. The concert brought together bands from across ISD 199, fifth-grade through high school. Each band performed with their grade level to demonstrate what they have learned this year before all of the bands played a song together.
Fifth graders from Hilltop, Pine Bend, and Salem Hills elementary schools played first. They performed classic songs that showcased skills from their first year of band. Their songs included “Hot Cross Buns,” “Skip to My Lou,” and more. Inver Grove Heights Middle School eighth graders played an eerie, mysterious-sounding piece called “Shadows Unleashed” and the song “Circle of Life” from Disney’s “The Lion King.” The Simley High School Wind Ensemble performed an upbeat, whimsical piece known as “Fantasia on the Dargason” and a medley of songs from Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther.”
At the end of the concert, all of the bands played “Let’s Go Band” together as their finale. Near the end of the concert, Simley Band Director Kevin Robinson also celebrated the fact that participation in fifth-grade band has doubled since last year. Hilltop, Pine Bend, and Salem Hills gained a total of about 100 students during the 2022-2023 school year.
The concert was a great opportunity for students to collaborate and learn from each other. It taught older students leadership as they modeled how to behave at a concert for the younger students. It also gave younger students an idea of what opportunities they will have in the future if they continue in the band program.

Este abril, Inver Grove Heights Schools celebraró su tercer Concierto Puente ISD 199. El concierto reunió a bandas de todo ISD 199, desde quinto grado hasta la escuela secundaria. Cada banda actuó con su nivel de grado para demostrar lo que habían aprendido este año antes de que todas las bandas tocaran una canción juntas.
Los alumnos de quinto grado de las escuelas primarias Hilltop, Pine Bend y Salem Hills jugaron primero. Interpretaron canciones clásicas que mostraron las habilidades de su primer año en la banda. Sus canciones incluyeron "Hot Cross Buns", "Skip to My Lou" y más.
