Emergency Closings

Every decision to close or delay school is made with the understanding that many families need to find alternative care for their children when school is not in session. However, the safety of students, families, and staff is a primary concern when the district makes closure or delayed start decisions. Also, parents and guardians always have the choice to keep their child at home if they are concerned about sending their child to school because of weather conditions.

Superintendent Dave Bernhardson consults with experts inside and outside of the district to make cancellation or delay decisions. When a decision is made to cancel or delay school, ISD 199 will keep families, staff, and community members informed in a variety of ways.

The school district will place an automated call to all families when a school closure or delay is decided. Information will also be available via:

  • District Website: Visit www.isd199.org for the most up-to-date information
  • District Information Hotline: Call 651-306-7875 for a detailed message
  • Social Media: Find information at www.facebook.com/isd199 or www.twitter.com/isd199 
  • TV: Watch Twin Cities television network affiliate stations. Look for “Inver Grove Heights Schools” in the news crawl
  • Radio: Listen for WCCO-AM (830) to announce “Inver Grove Heights Schools” 

To ensure that you receive an automated call when a Cold or Snow Day is declared, please check that your contact information in Infinite Campus is correct and that your preferred email and phone number are marked for “Emergency” and “General.” If everything is correct, please contact your child's school to let them know that you have not received any automated calls. 

How to Verify and/or Update Your Household Information

  • Log in to Infinite Campus.
  • At the bottom of the side menu, click "More."
  • To check or update your preferred phone number and email address, click "Family Information."
  • Click “Update” to make changes.

How to Verify and/or Update Your Contact Preferences

  • After logging into Infinite Campus, click the Account tab in the upper right corner of the screen, and then click "Settings."
  • Under “Contact Preferences,” mark your preferred phone number and email address for "General" and "Emergency."
  • If you would like to receive texts as well, check the "General" and "Emergency" boxes under "Text (SMS)."
  • Click “Save” after making changes.
