The annual 5th-grade Track and Field Day features games for incoming Inver Grove Heights Middle School students. Students participate in track and field events at Simley High School’s Spartan Stadium. The event is an opportunity for students to meet the classmates they will go to middle school with next year and learn about some of the opportunities that await them.
Students from Hilltop Elementary School, Pine Bend Elementary School, Salem Hills Elementary School, and the Atheneum Gifted Magnet Program participated. They tried long jump, discus, jump rope, hurdles, relays, sprints, and long distance events with the help of Simley Track and Field athletes. Fifth graders had a great time getting active in different events of their choice and cheering on their classmates.
After having their own track and field day, 5th-grade students will help run K-4 Fun Day events for kindergarten through fourth-grade students at their own elementary schools later this year

El día anual de atletismo para quinto grado presenta juegos para los estudiantes entrantes de Inver Grove Heights Middle School. Los estudiantes participan en eventos de atletismo en el Spartan Stadium de Simley High School. El evento es una oportunidad para que los estudiantes conozcan a los compañeros con los que irán a la escuela secundaria el próximo año y conozcan algunas de las oportunidades que les esperan.
Los estudiantes de Hilltop Elementary School, Pine Bend Elementary School, Salem Hills Elementary School, y Atheneum Gifted Magnet Program participaron. Probaron salto de longitud, disco, saltar la cuerda, vallas, relevos, carreras de velocidad y eventos de larga distancia con la ayuda de los atletas de Simley Track and Field. Los estudiantes de quinto grado se lo pasaron muy bien activándose en diferentes eventos de su elección y animando a sus compañeros.
Después de tener su propio día de atletismo, los estudiantes de quinto grado ayudarán a organizar eventos del Día de Diversión K-4 para estudiantes de kindergarten a cuarto grado en sus propias escuelas primarias a finales de este año.
