Students from grades 4, 7, and 11 were selected to be members of this year’s Inver Grove Heights Schools Student Advisory Council. Council members meet with the superintendent to learn about district topics and work together to provide a student perspective on those topics. Students also learn leadership skills that they bring back to their schools.
At their first meeting, students visited the ISD 199 District Office to meet with Superintendent Dave Bernhardson. Council members learned about the district, each other, and some district initiatives during their first meeting. Students toured the district office to better understand its functions and how all of the district departments and schools collaborate to serve students.
They also learned about the district’s 199 Experience initiative, which aims to make every student feel like they belong, they have positive relationships, and they are engaged while they are at school. Students shared what belonging, positive relationships, and engagement should look, sound, and feel like. At each meeting, council members will provide their perspectives on how the district can further improve the school experience for all students. They will also continue to do activities focused on leadership skills and learning about the district.
Los estudiantes de los grados 4, 7 y 11 fueron seleccionados para ser miembros del Consejo Asesor Estudiantil de Inver Grove Heights de este año. Los miembros del consejo se reúnen con el superintendente para aprender sobre los temas del distrito y trabajar juntos para brindar una perspectiva estudiantil sobre esos temas. Los estudiantes también aprenden habilidades de liderazgo que traen a sus escuelas.
En su primera reunión, los estudiantes visitaron ISD 199 District Office para reunirse con el superintendente Dave Bernhardson. Los miembros del consejo aprendieron sobre el distrito, entre sí y sobre algunas iniciativas del distrito durante su primera reunión. También aprendieron sobre la iniciativa 199 Experience, cuyo objetivo es hacer que cada estudiante se sienta parte, tenga relaciones positivas y esté involucrado mientras está en la escuela. Los estudiantes compartieron cómo deberían verse, sonar y sentirse la pertenencia, las relaciones positivas y el compromiso. En cada reunión, los miembros del consejo brindarán sus perspectivas sobre cómo el distrito puede mejorar aún más la experiencia escolar para todos los estudiantes. También continuarán realizando actividades enfocadas en habilidades de liderazgo y aprendizaje sobre el distrito.
