Inver Grove Heights Middle School sixth graders are writing e-books as part of a service learning project that will benefit preschoolers at the Inver Grove Heights Early Learning Center. IGHMS Reading Teacher Lisa Rose set up the project to give students a hands-on activity that would build their skills while producing something to help others.
Before they began writing, middle school students learned about early childhood literacy. They learned some techniques to use in their e-books based on how preschoolers learn, such as including pictures. Students each chose an animal to write about and then researched it to write an introduction, some facts, and a short quiz in their e-books. The finished products will go to the Inver Grove Heights Early Learning Center to teach preschool students about conservation while increasing their literacy skills. Great job, students!
Los estudiantes de sexto grado de Inver Grove Heights Middle School están escribiendo libros electrónicos como parte de un proyecto de aprendizaje de servicio que beneficiará a los niños en edad preescolar en Inver Grove Heights Early Learning Center. La maestra de lectura de IGHMS, Lisa Rose, creó el proyecto para brindarles a los estudiantes una actividad práctica que desarrollaría sus habilidades mientras producían algo para ayudar a otros.
