  • Golf Announcement:
Simley Boys Golf stormed onto Logger?s Trail Golf Course for the conference finals on Wednesday, May 22, with one simple goal:  play the best team golf of the season and finish as high in the Metro East as possible. Every Spartan responded to the challenge with their best team performance and came tantalizingly close to third place in the conference standings, finishing one measly point behind Hill-Murray. While Mahtomedi finished a stroke ahead of STA to claim the title, the Simley linksters captured third place in the final competition with every Spartan scoring in the 80?s at worst to back up each other to hold off Hastings, Hill-Murray, and Two Rivers. Coincidentally, the first round of the sections will be held at Loggers Trail in a week and your Spartans are now well-prepared for their state tournament qualifying challenge.
Senior Justin Orn ended his Metro East career with a glorious 74 on a day when the winds were howling from the first hole through the last. One of the most consistent golfers in Simley golf history, Justin?s round saw how the winds affected play. He offset seven over par holes with five birdies to wrap up second place in the conference for the season and taking home All-Conference honors for the third year in a row. Following closely on his heels was Sophomore Charlie Martin, whose seventh-place finish on the day vaulted him to fifth place in the conference on the season and its accompanying All-Conference honors. The highlight of Charlie?s round had to be his dart on the 18th hole to three feet for birdie. Junior Elias Boone was steady Ely and his clutch birdie at the last, a seeming Boone trademark, assured Simley of its third-place finish. Junior Myles Feldman wrapped up the scoring for the Spartans and he may not have carded a birdie on this windy day, but neither did he put a crooked number on the scorecard for his most consistent round of the season. Seniors Jake Stanton and Carson Gustafson rounded out the scoring for Simley with scores that would have also guaranteed the great finish for their team.
  • 9th, 10th, and 11th graders will receive their Yearbooks on Monday, June 3rd during the 4th hour. Students will be called down to the Spartan Center throughout the hour.  Seniors will receive Yearbooks during Cap and Gown pick-up on Friday, May 31st.
