  • Golf Announcement:

It sure looked like a beautiful day looking out the panoramic windows at Inver Wood Golf Course on Thursday, April 14, 2024, as the Simley Boys Golf Team took on perennially strong Eagan in its annual head-to-head showdown. But looks can be deceiving as the winds were howling turning 55 degrees into a real feel in the low 40?s and the scorecard par of 72 strokes was more like 77. But the Spartans had not been made weak by five days in the 80?s on their 2024 southern trip to Arizona and their golf was hot. The Wildcats hung around on the front nine, but the Simley linksters did not blink on the back nine and stretched their lead out to 9 strokes before closing out the match on the 18th hole with a five-stroke victory.

Senior Justin Orn led the way for the Spartans and was medalist for the match with a steady two over par 74 with only one birdie demonstrating the consistency of his game when the Wildcats best player finished fully five strokes behind Justin. Youth was next served as Sophomore Charlie Martin broke the barrier with 79 and some of the sweetest tee shots you will ever see. Next up was Junior Eli Boone who overcame horrible breaks early to dash whatever hopes Eagan had to come back in the match. Finally, Junior Myles Feldman started strong and held on valiantly to close out the scoring in the first dual match of his varsity career. The Spartans should play even better as the spring temperatures rise.
