Simley Announcements 11-6-23
Published on Nov 6, 2023 11:37

  •  This past Saturday the State Cross Country Meet returned to the University of Minnesota for the first time since 1990. While it was a bit muddy in some spots due to the snow from earlier in the week and the wet, frosty ground from the races at the start of the day, a lot of fast times were run all day, including the three Spartans racing. Senior Abi Lindquist, in her 2nd state meet appearance, went out with a bang, running her 2nd fastest 5k in 19:46 and finishing in 42nd, an improvement by 42 spots from last year. Megan Gullerud, in her 3rd state meet appearance had an off day and finished 81st, while 7th Grader Annaleigh Schwab, in her 1st state meet appearance and 4th ever 5k passed almost 20 runners from the start to the finish to end in 20:26 and 84th place. Her time is 5th fastest in school history. Annaleigh becomes just the 6th member of the girls team to qualify for the state meet in school history. Abi became the 4th runner on the girls team to compete in two state meets, while Megan is 2nd on the girls team to compete in three. Full results can be found at wayzataresults.com
