Today is Picture Make-Up Day! This is for students that did not take their photo in August. Student photos will start around 10:15 am and will continue on throughout the day. Students will be called down via the PA system so please wait and listen for your grade group to be called.

Today is the last chance to sign up for the Homecoming dodgeball tournament.  The sign up form will close at 9am.  The dodgeball tournament will take place tonight at 7pm in the Main Gym.

Homecoming dance tickets are now on sale.  $10 in advance, $15 at the door.  All tickets must be purchased on GoFan.  See the flyers posted around the school.  Guest contract forms are in the guidance office with Ms. Jaco and must be completed and turned in by Thursday 9/21.

Attention all Simley students,  The SPARC student leaders will be doing a fun event at this Friday's homecoming game and we want to invite everyone to come to the game.  The first 100 students that stop at the SPARC tent at the homecoming game this Friday and write down their reason for making healthy choices such as choosing not to vape or use other drugs, will be given a tennis ball with a number on it. At half time, all 100 students with a tennis ball will get to throw their tennis ball onto the field. The student's tennis ball that comes the closest to the SPARK on the SPARC logo will win a pair of air pods.  Homecoming is for everyone and we hope to fill the stands with students! Get to the game and get to the SPARC tent early!

Simley Girls Volleyball hosted Hastings on Tuesday, September 19, in their annual traveling trophy match for “The Bus.” With a few Spartans hit by the latest illness bug affecting schools, it was time for the entire team to step up. Working through the challenge of differing lineups and players in new positions on Simley’s side of the net, the Raiders came out strong in both of the first two sets of the match and led most of the way in each before the Spartans proved that everyone on the team was ready for prime time. In her first start in the opening set of a match, Senior outside hitter Jaida Crawford was the offensive hero as Simley staged a furious comeback to fight off multiple set points by Hastings to prevail 28-26. In a near exact repeat in the second set, the Spartans had to dig deep for another comeback as the turning point came on a huge kill by Junior middle hitter Ayisat Adebayo to turn the momentum back to the home team. The Raiders did not go easily, however, and it took clutch play by everyone at the end of the set to again win in overtime 26-24. The final set of the match was a dominating performance by Simley in which the Spartans made only two errors in the entire set. There is nothing better than a solid team performance as every Spartan player took her turn driving the bus home in front of its large and boisterous fan base.

Simley Student Council is looking for students in all grades who want to be leaders in the school and help plan school events. Meetings will take place on Tuesday mornings every few weeks.
