Simley Announcements 5-23-23
Published on May 23, 2023 08:44

This is a reminder to all students that are currently signed up for Credit Recovery that the deadline to be 100% done with your credits in credit recovery is this Friday at 3:20 pm. No exceptions and you must be 100% done with the credit or you will need to start it over in summer school.

This Friday's deadline also applies to all SENIORS that are in credit recovery. No exceptions and no extensions of the deadline will be made.
With all the new high end golf courses opening across the county, Golf Digest came out with a new top 100 list for the United States and Minnesota has just one – White Bear Yacht Club. The Boys Varsity Golf team was fortunate enough to play there in a tournament on Monday, May 22nd and finished a strong third place behind Mahtomedi and St. Thomas Academy, who played some of their best golf of the season with both teams shooting below 300, while the Spartans were more than respectable with a team score of 310 on a strong Donald Ross design. If there is a flat lie on the course, we didn’t find it today, and with the greens recently aerated, the bumps did not go the Simley linksters way. Even so, great shots abounded for the Spartans especially near the ends of their rounds and were needed as a majestic course like the Yacht Club will punish the slightest error. The youngsters led the way on Monday. Junior Justin Orn was medalist for Simley and his two birdies in his last three holes earned him third-place honors for the day and a flashy medal. Junior Jake Stanton made a clutch up and down from the side of the filthy par-3 17th hole, Jake’s last hole of the day. Although the ribbon wasn’t pink, he brought home the sixth-place medal. Senior Caden Renslow also shone on his last hole of the day getting up and down from 80 yards to shoot a strong 78. Senior Joey Stanton hit solid shot after solid shot after solid shot and was rewarded – never. His low-80 score could have easily been mid-70’s. Joey was probably saving all the good bounces for the conference final on Wednesday – smart. Rounding out the scoring for the Spartans were Sophomore Elias Boone and Senior Carl Lane who battled on every shot throughout the loop.
