Simley Announcements 5-17-23
Published on May 17, 2023 09:04

Applications for next year's Link Leaders are now open to current 10th & 11th grade students.  Scan the QR code on the signs around school.  The application deadline has been extended to Friday, May 19th.  All new and returning Link Leaders should fill out an application!  See Ms. Austin, Mr. Berg or Ms. Sylvester with questions.    The Simley Boys Golf team came ever so close to defeating Metro East dominating Mahtomedi on Tuesday, May 16th at their home course of Oneka Ridge. While dominating rebuilding North High, the Spartans were leading the Zephyrs by a stroke or two coming into the penultimate hole on the back nine. If you think the 17th hole at Oneka is an absurdity, you’d be correct. Kudos to Senior Caden Renslow and Junior Jake Stanton who shot matching 38’s and whose rounds were highlighted by outstanding par saves on the part of Mr. Renslow and a beautiful birdie by Mr. Stanton on the 17th. Junior Justin Orn had yet another solid round of golf this season and Sophomore Elias Boone’s swing is getting more consistent by the day as they both posted scores for Simley. Freshman Charlie Martin continues his steady improvement and Senior Joey Stanton found more bad breaks on Tuesday than an orthopedic surgeon.  Congratulations to Rachel Scufsa  for winning the twenty one tournament at the Simley courts yesterday In an epic battle with Alex Anaya.

The JV Track and Field team had their last opportunity to compete on Tuesday at the JV Conference Meet. Athletes earned many personal records and some athletes even secured varsity spots and will continue their seasons. Overall the girls finished 4th and the boys finished 8th.

SPARC's 2nd Annual Color Run is this Friday during the 7th hour and is open to all students and staff! We're celebrating that MOST Simley students are choosing to make positive and healthy choices when hanging out with their friends. Get some friends together, wear white or light colored clothes, and come have fun while getting full of color! Thank you to all those who helped with and donated to the blood drive on Friday. We collected 38 units of blood, which could potentially save up to 114 lives! Great job, Spartans!
