If you were unable to attend last night’s Student Recognition Program, you can pick up your award in the main office after 2nd hour.

SPARC's 2nd Annual Color Run is this Friday during the 7th hour and is open to all students and staff! We're celebrating that MOST Simley students are choosing to make positive and healthy choices when hanging out with their friends. Get some friends together, wear white or light colored clothes, and come have fun while getting full of color! Thank you to all those who helped with and donated to the blood drive on Friday. We collected 38 units of blood, which could potentially save up to 114 lives! Great job, Spartans!

Troy Burne used to be the Achille’s Heel of Simley Boys Golf. That is until Monday, May 18th when the Spartans posted their lowest team score ever in the 2023 event that featured lightning greens and frightening roughs as the course prepared to be a U.S. Open qualifying venue. The linksters carded a 304 shattering their previous best score in the Hudson Invitational by more than 20 strokes. The Spartans came within two strokes of winning the tournament and only three late birdies by highly ranked River Falls kept the trophy out of Simley’s hands. Beautiful shots abounded across the links course as the golfers were tested by the challenging conditions and whenever Troy Burne threw a punch, the Spartans bobbed and weaved and hit back with birdies, timely pars, and even round saving bogeys. Junior Jake Stanton led the way with a sweet 75 highlighted by his 250-yard tour-level 3-wood on the 560-yard par-5 first hole to the fringe of the green where he drained the 30-footer for an eagle-3. The resulting 4th place finish and pink ribbon medal stunningly matched Jake’s pink shorts & white top ensemble and matched his coach’s first volleyball uniform some 40 years ago. Mr. 39, Senior Carl Lane, threw bookend 38’s into the mix, his personal best, garnered 8th place, and received the first medal of his golfing career with a pleasing purple ribbon. Senior Joey Stanton equaled 76, losing out on a medal due to some questionable tiebreakers and a ball that became afraid of the dark on the final two holes of his round. Joey had the best iron shot of the day for Simley as his seven-iron to the 13th green, a par-3 protected by water tracked perfectly to the hole stopping two inches from falling in for the second hole in one of his nascent golfing career. Senior Justin Orn fought back several times in a luckless round for a gritty 77 to round out the scoring for the Spartans. Senior Caden Renslow and Sophomore Elias Boone hit the ball very well all day but may sue their putters for non-support. When all scores were in, the 2023 Spartan golf team shot the second-best score in program history on the toughest course they play. Congratulations.
