After a disappointing performance on Tuesday, the Spartan Golfers had something to prove and bounced back resolutely at Manitou Ridge on Thursday, April 27th against South St. Paul and North St. Paul. Simley Boys Golf swept the Packers for the season and defeated the Polars on their home links. The Spartans showed no mercy as they outscored SSP on average by two strokes a player and dominated rebuilding NSP by 65 strokes. Medalist honors this day went to Senior Caden Renslow who bogeyed two of his first three holes and then finished strongly with pars on all remaining holes for a lovely 38 on another cold spring day of Minnesota golf. Senior Joey Stanton was even par through his first five holes, must have thought he was playing hockey for his next three where higher scores are better, and then rebounded on the final hole for a solid 39. The coach was not sure what sport Junior Justin Orn was playing as he was four over for his first three holes before he gutted out his last six holes using a couple of birdies to bring home a plucky 40. Junior Jake Stanton, Sophomore Elias Boone, and Freshman Charlie Martin each used five pars to round out the scoring for Simley with matching 41’s with a combination of beautiful iron play for Jake, capable putting for Eli, and steady play for Charlie. Seven Metro East points in just three events is a strong start to the season for the Spartans.
The Track and Field Team had a busy couple of days with the Mid-Conference Meet Thursday and the Lakeville Mega Meet on Saturday. On Thursday the girls placed 2nd and the boys finished 4th. On Saturday the boys placed 3rd and girls placed 6th.

On May 12, 2023 from 9am to 2pm in the North Gym, NHS and Student Council will be sponsoring a blood drive. Students 17 and older and staff can register during any lunch on Mondays and Wednesdays from April 17-May 10 OR by clicking the QR code on the posters hung up around school. The Red Cross is in need of blood, so please consider being a donor!
