Student Center closed 1st hour


Seniors! You have 5 days left to apply for a BEST Foundation scholarship! Remember, these scholarships are available only to Simley seniors and are for students planning to attend any type of college. Remember, you can sign-up for a writing conference with one of our writing tutors to have them look over your BEST Foundation essay. The QR codes are around the school or available in your English class. 


If you are interested in playing Lacrosse there will be Player/Parents Meetings in the Spartan Center on the following dates:Girl’s next Tuesday 3/7(rescheduled) and Boy’s next Wed 3/8, both at 7pm.  You don’t need to have experience to play – All are welcome grades 7th-12th!  Please also make sure to officially register in Infinite Campus by Tryouts Mon 4/3!  


Come on down to the Moose Lodge this Saturday (3/4) for the Meat Raffle from 1:45pm-4pm (or until the meat runs out)to help support the SENIOR CLASS OF 2023 All Night Party!  It will be a great time!


Attention students who are traveling with Mrs. Stenglein and Mrs. Valencia to Ecuador or Europe: Chocolate bars are in!  Stop by Stenglein’s or Valencia's room for the form.  Meeting for all interested in selling, Friday morning at 8:05, Stenglein's room.


The Simley Writing Center is offering tutoring for finals. If you have an upcoming writing assignment or project, sign-up to meet with a writing coach. These juniors and seniors are experienced writers who can give you feedback at any point in the writing process. All writers can benefit from feedback, so take advantage of this opportunity. QR codes to sign-up for a writing conference are available around the school or with your English teacher. 


Simley Cheese and Charcuterie Club, will be meeting in the Spartan center before school this upcoming Monday. Simley Cheese Club, you don't want to swiss out!


Interested in playing Golf this spring?   The Simley Golf Team (boys team and girls team) has their Welcome Meeting on Thursday March 16 for all players and parents.  All interested 7th - 12th graders are welcome!   Apparel sizing at 6pm, meeting starts at 6:30pm in the Spartan Center.  Contact [email protected] with any questions.

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) will be offered at Simley on March 7th, the same day as the ACT. This test is required if you are planning to enlist in any branch of the military. Even if you aren't planning on a military pathway, the ASVAB provides excellent career exploration tools. If you're a junior, you can switch from the ACT to the ASVAB.  If you are a sophomore or senior, you are welcome to come in on the 7th and take the ASVAB- just sign-up with Ms. Kimble. 

 

Registration for next year's courses is currently taking place at Simley High School.

To help assist with course selection, Simely teachers created videos for every course taught at Simley, the videos explain the content of the course, expectations and homework load for each course. This will help students choose the best course options for themselves. Please check out the "course Videos" on the link above. Scroll down to the red list of departments to access the video resource.   The deadline for students to register in their Xello account is March 5th.

Free Open Skate Event - March 10

Stop by Veterans Memorial Community Center on Friday, March 10, for a FREE Open Skate event for families in Inver Grove Heights and ISD 199 schools! Inver Grove Heights Parks and Recreation and IGH SPARC will host the event from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Event details: www.ighsparc.org/events/sparc-open-skate
Dakota Soccer Club is looking for a few more male soccer players for summer 2023!!  Players from the following birth years are needed: 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012. We currently have teams at these ages but just need a few more players to fill out the rosters. The DSC competitive soccer program officially begins in March (but some teams are training now) with indoor training and runs through June. Practices are held indoors 1 to 2 times a week for March-April, and then move outside during May-June (up to 2-3 times per week). Summer schedule includes 8 to 10 games. Costs range from U9-U10 ($360), U11-U14 ($515), U15+ ($575) plus uniform costs.  For more information or to register, visit www.dakotasc.org.

Did you know that breakfast is free for all students everyday?  While we have returned to paying for lunch, breakfast is still free for everyone.  Stop by the to-go cart in the commons or go directly to the cafeteria each day before school to pick up your breakfast and feed your brain for the morning.  If you need help paying for lunch, please complete the educational benefits application, which can be done on the parent portal or on a form found in the guidance office.

Bus Drivers Needed! ISD 199 is looking for more bus drivers and bus driver subs! Before and after school shifts are available, 4 hours per day are guaranteed, up to $23.25 per hour plus paid training, and full benefits at 25 hours per week. Learn more and apply at www.isd199.org/careers
