Winter Week will be February 6-10th. This week will include dress up days, a movie night, first hour bingo competition, and a pep-fest. More info to come. In addition, the Snowball Dance is back for the first time since the winter of 2020. It will be held on Friday, February 10th. 

  

Simley will have Isa Kibira from ServeMN (Americorps) come to discuss options for employment after graduation.  If you are still not sure what you want to do after graduation, want to serve your community, or take a gap year before college, Americorp could be a fantastic opportunity for you! They will be here at 9:30am on 1/17 (next Tuesday) in the Student Center.  Sign-up in advance with Ms. Kimble or check in with Mrs. Meyer for attendance the day of the event.


Calling on  ALL Parents we are having an ALL NIGHT SENIOR PARTY kick off meeting to start planning for the All Night party for the Class of 2023!  This is open to ALL High School Parents. Underclassman parents are encouraged to get involved so senior parents can enjoy their final days with their graduates.

Congratulations to the boys Swimming and Diving team for their 2nd Place finish at True Team Sections on Saturday. Medal winners were; John Tabor took 5th in the 200 freestyle and 4th in the 500 freestyle; Lucas McMonigal took 5th in the 200 IM and 8th in the 100 breaststroke; Christian Jack took 2nd in the 200 IM and 7th in the 100 backstroke; Fernando Madrid Pina took 8th in the1-meter diving; Carter Kline took 7th in 1-meter diving; Marioys Makar was the Section Champion in the 1-meter diving; Glenn Rubendall took 6th in the 100 butterfly; Ethan Gregg took 3rd in the 100 butterfly; Vincent Evangelista took 8th in the 100 backstroke; and Hunter Collins took 3rd in the 100 breaststroke. The team of Vincent Evangelista, Hunter Collins, Ethan Gregg, and Christian Jack took 6th in the 200-Medley relay; the team of Hunter Collins, Lucas McMonigal, Glenn Rubendall, and John Tabor took 4th in the 200-freestyle relay; and the team of John Tabor, Ethan Gregg, Lucas McMonigal, and Christian Jack took 6th in the 400-freestyle relay.  The team earned an advancement to the True Team State meet this coming up Saturday at the U of MN.

 

The gymnastics team traveled to Mahtomedi for their Invitational this weekend.  

Mahtomedi won with a 137 and the Spartans placed 2nd with a score of 130.05

The top finishers were :

Sydney Lencowski- 8th on bars 

Keira Austin- 8th on vault

Emmerson Hocking- 6th in the All-around, 7th on vault, bars and beam, and 8th on floor 

Ashley Lynner- 3rd on vault, 6th on bars, 8th on beam, 4th on floor, and 5th All-around

Lucy Pentilla- 3rd on vault, beam, and in the All-around, 2nd on bars, and 7th on floor

The gymnastics team has a HOME meet tonight starting at 6pm against Hastings, please come out and support!

ISD 199 Winter Weather Procedures

ISD 199 will have two weather-related non-school days before Flex Learning days are declared and students continue classwork from home. On the third Snow or Cold Day of the school year, Flex Learning days will begin. Click here for information about Flex Learning Days.

School closures will be announced in an automated phone call, texts to families who have opted into receiving text messages, a post on the district website and social media accounts, and announcements through local television and radio stations. Did you know that breakfast is free for all students everyday?  While we have returned to paying for lunch, breakfast is still free for everyone.  Stop by the to-go cart in the commons or go directly to the cafeteria each day before school to pick up your breakfast and feed your brain for the morning.  If you need help paying for lunch, please complete the educational benefits application, which can be done on the parent portal or on a form found in the guidance office.

  
Bus Drivers Needed! ISD 199 is looking for more bus drivers and bus driver subs! Before and after school shifts are available, 4 hours per day are guaranteed, up to $23.25 per hour plus paid training, and full benefits at 25 hours per week. Learn more and apply at www.isd199.org/careers
