Choir Concert - TONIGHT, Monday, March 4th at 7 p.m. - Everyone is invited.




Attention all seniors:  All lunch release and study hall release forms must be renewed for trimester 3.  Please pick up a form in the main office or guidance office. Seniors who do not return a signed form are not permitted to leave school.  Also, please return all trimester 2 study hall and hybrid release cards to the main office.

No School for students on Friday, March 8th.




Come out and support Jordan Boswell’s NHS Project on March 9th for suicide awareness. She will be showing the movie “Suicide: The Ripple Effect” starring Kevin Hines, in which he reflects on his suicide attempt from the Golden Gate Bridge and advocates mental health awareness. Tickets are $10 and will be going on sale for students during lunch this week, Monday March 4th through Thursday March 7th. The doors open at 10:30am and the movie begins at 12:00pm. Students, if you buy a ticket you will be put into a drawing for a chance to win a pair of Apple AirPods. All proceeds will go to the Strub Caulkins Center for Suicide Research. The Final PRIDE Ticket drawing will take place on the Monday, March 11. Please turn in your PRIDE Tickets by Thursday, March 7th for a chance to win a HydroFlask Water Bottle, Tumbler, or a JBL Speaker.




As a reminder due to finals, there is NO Student Council meeting tomorrow. Our next meeting will be Tuesday, March 12 at 7:15 a.m. in the Student Center in order to prepare for our upcoming Charity Week.




Attention GSA members, due to finals and after school LINK crew activities, there will be no meeting tomorrow after school. We will resume our meetings on Tuesday, March 12 in the Flexible Learning Space in the East wing. Additionally, if you have not attended a meeting but are interested, you are still welcome to join us!

Seniors! Don’t forget to complete the B.E.S.T. Foundation scholarship application! It is due TODAY, Monday, March 4th at 3:00 PM- no exceptions! One application to be considered for over 100 scholarships, available only to Simley students! Please note, when completing the financial need portion, a screenshot must be uploaded to your application that includes your name and expected family contribution (EFC) number. Congratulations to the Boys’ Swimming & Diving team for their Top 10 finish at the State Championship at the University of Minnesota this weekend. The team came in 10th place out of the 40 teams that qualified for the State tournament. Medal & point scorers were as follows; Michael Schmalz took 15th in the 200 I.M (All State Honorable Mention); & 8th in the 100 breaststroke (All State); Garrett Kaiser took 3rd in the 1-meter diving (All State); Ethan Jie took 23rd in the 500 free; Eric Petschl took 16th in the 500 free (All State Honorable Mention); Nico Losinski took 10thin the 500 free (All State Honorable Mention) and 22nd in the 100 backstroke; and Andrew Perrin took 8th in the 500 free (All State); The team of Nico Losinski, Michael Schmalz, Sam Montague, Ben Briguet, and Eric Petschl took 10th in the 200 Medley Relay (All State Honorable Mention); the team of Michael Schmalz, Gabe Ukestad, Sam Montague, and Eric Petschl took 10th in the 200 Free Relay (All State Honorable Mention); and the team of Eric Petschl, Gabe Ukestad, Andrew Perrin, and Nico Losinski took 14th in the 400 Free Relay (All State Honorable Mention).  Congratulations on a great season!



Boys Swim & dive locker clean out and equipment return is tomorrow, Tuesday March 5th, after school at the Grove. The locker room will be open until 3:15 p.m.



Congratulations to the all of the Wrestlers that participated in the AA Individual State Tournament.  Chase DeBlaere 126#, Ryan Sokol 132# and Greg Kerkvliet Hwt# are State Champions!  Cael Berg 138#, Nolan Wanzek 170# were state runner-ups. Gavin Nelson 152# & Quayin Short 182#placed 3rd, Jake Hageman 160# & Bennett Tabor 195# placed 4th. Chase DeBlaere, Ryan Sokol, Cael Berg, Gavin Nelson, Quayin Short, Bennett Tabor and Greg Kerkvliet were selected for the 2019 Class AA Minnesota State Wrestling All-Tournament team. Congratulations on a great season.




Please join the Simley Soccer Boosters for their first booster meeting of 2019 on Monday, March 4 at 6:30 in the Legion Room (next to Community Room 2) at the Veterans Memorial Community Center. All parents of 9th-12th grade soccer players for fall 2019 are welcome to attend.




Attention all Boys interested in joining Tennis team - There is a Boys Tennis Meeting on Thursday, March 7th at 2:45 p.m. in the cafeteria. Tennis is open to all boys in grades 7-12.

 

Upcoming College Visits:

A representative from the following colleges will be visiting Simley at the specified dates and times. If you are interested in learning more about a college and hearing from an admission representative from their school, sign-up and get a pass from Ms. Kimble in the Student Center.

REMINDER  - The IMC, the Student Center and the Spartan Center are closed all of 5th hour. You must stay in the cafeteria during your lunch period.





Attention all Track & Field athletes, if you are looking are in need of proper training or competition shoes and spikes, please visit Mr. Gerber. He has flyers from the Run'N'Fun store, who are selling discounted running shoes.

Annual Family Maxes for Activity Fees are listed below. If you are at the maximum for the school year, please contact Kim Madigan in Activities  BEFORE you register so your fee can be adjusted.

Reminder to Simley students - You are NOT allowed to be in the middle school. This includes cutting through the middle school in the morning and afternoons when arriving to or leaving from school.
