Congratulations to the Simley Dance Team for placing 3rd in both High Kick & Jazz at the section tournament on Saturday. The team qualified for the State Tournament which will take place on Friday, 2/15 & Saturday, 2/16 at the Target Center at 2 p.m. each day.



Congratulations to the Girls Hockey team for their 4-1 win over St. Paul/Sibley Riveters in the first round of section play on Saturday. The team will now take on SSP in the section semi-finals tomorrow at 6pm at Woog arena.



Attention all AP students. Have you registered for your AP exams yet? if not, you should because we will be holding a drawing each Friday leading up to the AP exam registration deadline of March 1st for a FREE AP exam.



Each Friday we will choose one student that has registered for their exams and the winner will receive one free AP exam!

You must be registered for your exams to be included in the drawings, and the sooner you register, the more chances you have of winning.

The first drawing will be held this Friday, and the winner will be announced at the end of the day.

Seniors, please turn in your baby photos, senior photos, and senior survey by February 14th if you want to be in the senior section of the yearbook. Photos should be sent to [email protected]. Valentines Day is the last day the yearbook staff will be accepting these items. See Ms. Hensch if you have any questions.



The American Red Cross Blood Drive will be taking place on Friday, February 22nd @ Simley. Sign-up at lunch!



Choir will be selling roses and carnations at lunch today through February 12th. Flowers will be delivered to your special someone on Valentine's Day.



The Track and Field season is fast approaching. There will be a student-athlete meeting with coaches TODAY, Monday, Feb. 11th on the 2nd floor in the Student Center after school. All students interested in Track and Field should attend, or meet with Coach Schwanz or Coach Gerber if you cannot make the meeting.



TONIGHT - Attention 9-12th grade Baseball Players & Parents - Preseason Simley Baseball meeting TONIGHT, Monday, February 11th at 7pm in the Simley Spartan Center.



BAND FUNDRAISER TONIGHT

The Simley Band is having a fundraiser at B-52’s on Monday, February 11, 2019 from 3pm-11:30pm!  All you need to do is bring the attached fundraiser flyer with you and the band receives 50% of your bill.  Please share with friends and family.



 

THEATRE NEWS:
Congratulations to all 6-12 graders who auditioned for and were cast in West Side Story! Cast lists are posted.  There is a MANDATORY spring musical meeting for all cast and crew and at least 1 parent/guardian per family on TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 12 at 5:30 PM in the Performing Arts Center.
Students interested in technical crew: meet in the PAC on Tuesday, February 12 after school and stay for the mandatory meeting.
A Simley Theatre Booster Club meeting will follow the mandatory meeting. Please join us at 6:30 on 2/12 in the PAC.

 

Simley Trap Reminder: Parent meeting TOMORROW, TUESDAY NIGHT, FEBRUARY 12 in the Simley Spartan Center. The MEETINGS is broken into the following sessions:

6:00-6:30 Trap Informational Session New or interested parents and athletes

Simley Lacrosse Booster Club Meeting:

Monday, February 11 at 7:00 PM

VMCC - Armory Room C

All lacrosse parents are welcome and encouraged to attend. We especially need parents of the new girls program who may be interested in representing the girls program on the board.

 

 

Upcoming College Visits:

A representative from the following colleges will be visiting Simley at the specified dates and times. If you are interested in learning more about a college and hearing from an admission representative from their school, sign-up and get a pass from Ms. Kimble in the Student Center.

Attention Students - Wearing of hats or hoods is not allowed during the school day.  If you have any questions, please see an administrator.



REMINDER  - The IMC, the Student Center and the Spartan Center are closed all of 5th hour. You must stay in the cafeteria during your lunch period.



Attention all boys interested in playing Lacrosse this spring, please plan to attend a preseason meeting on Tuesday, February 26th in the Cafeteria.

Teens for Jeans Drive -   February 4 - February 22

22nd!!  Donate any size, gently used jeans for homeless shelters in the IGH community. Please drop the jeans off in the donation box located in the Guidance office.




Guest contracts for the Snowball dance which will be on Saturday, February 23rd are available in Ms. Wang's office. Guest tickets will not be sold until contracts are signed by Ms. Klukas. They are due back on or before Wednesday, February 20.






Simley Trap Shooting Spring 2019 Key Dates and Information

Registration for the 2019 Spring Trap season will be open on Feb. 8th. Trap is open to all 7th-12th Grade Simley Students.

Below are some key dates for Returning or New athletes:

Tuesday, February 12:  Simley Spartan Center - 6:00 pm Parent information meeting (More time specific details to follow)

Friday, March 8th: Team Registration Deadline

Saturday, March 9th:            Pre –Season Primer and Lifetouch Photo event SSP Gun Club (More time specific details to follow)

Monday, April 1st :    Start of the Season

Saturday  April 13th:              Last day to complete Required Minnesota DNR Firearms Safety Certificate Field day(New Athletes)
