Special Meeting for Public Comment

Oct. 1 Special Meeting for Public Comment
Posted 9/19/2018

After two years of gathering research, providing information, and collecting feedback, the Inver Grove Heights Schools Start/End Time Review Committee recommended a flipped start and end time schedule for the district at the June 25, 2018, regular ISD 199 School Board meeting. The flipped schedule would have secondary schools in class from 8:30 AM – 3:20 PM and elementary schools in class from 7:50 AM – 2:30 PM. The board is currently deciding whether to flip the school schedule as recommended by the committee or keep the current schedule, 7:40 AM – 2:30 PM for secondary schools and 8:30 AM – 3:10 PM for elementary schools.

As part of their decision process, the board is inviting anyone who would like to speak on this topic to attend a Special Meeting for Public Comment on Monday, October 1, from 5:30-7:00 PM, in the Simley High School Spartan Center, 2920 80th Street East in Inver Grove Heights. To encourage community participation and conduct the meeting properly and efficiently:

  • Each speaker will have three minutes to address the board on start/end times
  • The board will not respond to or discuss the comments because the purpose of the special meeting is for the board to listen to the public’s comments on school start and end times before their decision

Any public comments on school start/end times should be provided at the October 1 special meeting as there will not be an opportunity at the October 22 board meeting when members are scheduled to take action. The Monday, October 22, board meeting will be held at 5:30 PM at Hilltop Elementary School, 3201 68th Street East in Inver Grove Heights.
