Spartan Kids' Care Lights On Afterschool CelebrationOn October 24, afterschool programs across the country held activities for the 20th Annual Lights On Afterschool Celebration. The celebration is the only nationwide event celebrating afterschool programs and their important role in the lives of children, families, and communities. Inver Grove Heights Schools has a long tradition of keeping the lights on afterschool for our students. In addition to the district’s school-aged care program, Spartan Kids’ Care, ISD 199’s TriDistrict Community Education offers afterschool youth enrichment classes about everything from art and video creation to technology and science exploration. Such programs and the caring staff that lead them give students a safe place to learn, relax, and play after the school day ends.

ISD 199 elementary schools participated in special activities as part of the 20th Annual Lights On Afterschool Celebration. Students held glowstick dances, created blacklight art, and made glow-in-the-dark slime as part of the theme of keeping the lights on.
