Third Graders Finish WordMasters Season Strong

Third-grade WordMasters teamThe WordMasters Challenge is a national vocabulary competition that asks 3rd- through 8th-grade students to learn and understand words well above grade-level. Nearly 150,000 students compete annually. Inver Grove Heights Schools elementary students finished their WordMasters seasons strong this year, earning a top 10 spot in the nation and a perfect score.

In the final meet, Pine Bend Elementary School 3rd grader Drew Koch earned a perfect score. Atheneum Gifted Magnet Program 3rd graders Rishik Kondadadi, Sophia McClarty, and Gabriel Thompson achieved outstanding results in the most difficult Gold Division. The Atheneum 3rd-grade team collectively earned 177 points out of 200 in their last three meets, putting them 8th in the nation. Overall, the team earned 501 out of 600 possible points in the season, earning a spot as one of the top 10 teams in the nation! Congratulations on a very successful WordMasters season, students!
